Join us on the I Stand with Natalee FB Group as we go live  with Dr. Nicola Herting Ph. D. and John Perez to discuss what treatment looks like for trauma in adults and children and why it is so important to get treatment. 

 

Dr. Nicola is the mental health director at the Red River Children's Advocacy Center and works with the Treatment Collaborative for Traumatized Youth on a statewide implementation of trauma screening and trauma-specific evidenced based treatment in North Dakota. Nicola Herting, Ph. D. has devoted her education and career to the health and well-being of children, families and trauma survivors. Dr. Herting received her MA and Ph. D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of North Dakota and completed her post-doctoral training at the Child Abuse Program at CHKD in Virginia. Dr. Herting is a licensed Clinical Psychologist and trained in various evidence-based treatment models. Dr. Herting has extensive training in child trauma and maltreatment and is experienced in providing evidence-based, trauma-specific assessment and treatment; community training's; expert testimony; and clinical consultation.

John Perez is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the state of North Dakota and Minnesota, a Nationally Certified Counselor and a certified DBT therapist. John has 14 years of mental health experience, ranging from case management, severe and persistent mental illness, crisis and emergency services, involuntary commitment assessment, substance use and co-occuring disorders, personality traits and disorders, couples and marriage counseling, in-home services with kids and families, group work and trauma. John currently works at Sanford Health as a Senior Behavioral Health Therapist doing individual counseling and DBT group, and owns a limited private practice. John’s education includes a bachelors degree in Pre-professional Psychology, a masters in Counseling Psychology and is currently a doctoral student at NDSU for Counselor Supervision and Education, with a focus on trauma.
